This is the last book in the Malazan series. And it has been a long trek. Each book has been huge and has encompassed so many characters and nations of the fantasy world that Erickson has created. And ever since I discovered the series, I have been reading them as fast as I could get a hold of them. So I’m kind of sad to see the series end. Not that it wasn’t a good ending. Lots of magic and epic battles. But still, this marked the end of the series.
The good thing is, that there is no reason Erickson can’t write other (not on the main story arc) tales set in the same world. He has created such a huge landscape of nations, worlds, and magic, that he can easily tell us continuing stories set in the same universe. Also, Esslemont is now writing his own epic story arc set in the same world. And judging by the first three books he has written, I think I’m going to like it.
